This ambitious expedition to the Falklands was mounted by the redoubtable Darwen Sub Aqua Club, led by its Chairman, Ian Dearden. The expedition recently won the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) prestigious ‘Expedition of the Year’ award, 2008. As team member on the first two weeks, to follow is my take on the award winning adventure.

The full write up of the first two weeks will be published soon, chapter by chapter. In the meanwhile, if you want to read the award winning expedition report, it can be downloaded below.
The Falkland Islands lie in the feared South Atlantic seas, between 51/53 degrees south and 57/62 degrees west.
This is the story of a group of divers shipping all their equipment by sea, including two RIBS, in a container the 7,000 Nm to enable them to dive these spectacular Islands.
‘The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.’
James A. Michener (1907-1997)
