The devil wears DUI

OK, its a cheap headline but what the hell, it had to be done. For those who haven’t followed the story so far, it may be worth reading the DUI Disaster article first. This is a quick note as I have just received my DUI drysuit back from repair.

Maserati Ghibli

I received the suit back from the lovely Toni at Hydrotech and dived it for the first time today…

I forget how great these suits are in the water: the rockboots, neoprene neck seal, zipseal cuff (with optional drygloves), retro fitted SiTech shoulder dump, Halcyon pee valve are a perfect combination.

This suit makes me feel like a seventies Italian supercar owner (this is speaking from experience; I did own a 1970 Maserati Ghibli – see above – sigh).

They are extremely expensive, totally unreliable, overheat when in traffic jams, cough and splutter at low revs. BUT when they are running well, driving down the Grande Corniche with that great big V8 roaring under the bonnet, you are in love, deeply in love.

So, the DUI, is unreliable, delicate and temperamental (I then hate it with a passion) but when its working perfectly, there is nothing to beat it.

It is now officially listed in my 100 best things ever; I just need a spare.

If the devil was to buy a drysuit, it would be a CF200 signature.

Well…....love the car description, and you know what they say about cars / dogs and their owners…..... your description does transfer very well to the owner:

They are extremely expensive (VERY true), totally unreliable (I personally don’t believe the rumours), overheat when in traffic jams (YES), cough and splutter at low revs (YES).

Would this be the same Ghibli I managed to blow-up?

The very same… Clutch I believe.

‘The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.’
James A. Michener (1907-1997)
